Hey, I’m Kerrie Giles, I’m mum of 2 kids with 7 years between them (I actually love the age gap) a husband who I’ve been with since University and a number of cats and a dog (that’s more like a toddler!) I’m from Lancashire in the North West of England where the hills are dotted with Victorian industrial towns. When it’s not raining, it looks idyllic.
I realised that working in an office, with the normal politics and rules handed down from people who had no idea how things actually worked, wasn’t for me.
It made me feel restricted and I had to pretend to be someone else just to fit in. I wanted to remember who I was again and I couldn’t do that when I was being told how to sit and how to speak.
I wanted to find my passion that had been squashed over the years by my employer’s rules and social expectations. So back in 2007, I started my first handmade business making wedding jewellery (I was getting married at the time so it was an obvious choice). Since then I’ve made enough money selling my handmade items all over the world that it allowed me to quit my full-time job and live my life on my own terms.
I also see this as an opportunity to show others how living your life on your own terms is one of the most beautiful things you can do for yourself. We are all unique, we all have a gift which seems so easy to us, that we dismiss it. But that gift could inspire someone to change themselves for the better, an action that has a ripple effect through our immediate communities and worldwide.
I want to inspire you to be proud of your uniqueness and if you can’t remember who you are because you were forced to play a role for far too long, then you deserve the opportunity to find it again.
